MSB Advisors
A brand of MSB Solutions

For the institutions who treat the MSB sector as a discipline.

Whether you are a bank evaluating an MSB program, a compliance officer reviewing a third-party relationship, or a senior executive navigating a complex strategic question — MSB Solutions provides the depth, discretion, and sector specificity that institutional decisions require. Two decades of work that holds up under regulator review.

Built by someone who's been on both sides

MSB Advisors is led by Phil Laufman — formerly Regional Vice President of South Florida Operations and East Coast Compliance Officer at Peninsula Bank, with seven years at Barclay's Bank of New York and Citibank before that. He then crossed the table to the operator side, helping grow American Quick Cash from a single store to six locations across South Florida as a licensed check casher.

Most consultants who advise institutions on MSB risk have either bank experience or MSB experience. He has both, in depth. Our work for institutions is informed by that combination.

Where MSB Advisors Fits

MSB Solutions built MSB Advisors specifically for institutional engagement with the money services sector.

We advise banks, payment processors, and infrastructure providers using practical experience drawn from all sides of the relationship: banking oversight, MSB operations, compliance program management, regulatory examinations, and ongoing operational support.

Our work is designed around how institutions actually operate and how supervisors actually evaluate.

Create programs that support growth, withstand scrutiny, and allow institutions to engage the sector with confidence.

Why the MSB sector requires specialist advisory

MSBs operate at the intersection of banking, payments, compliance, and regulation. Institutions serving the sector must account for federal requirements, state licensing frameworks, transaction monitoring expectations, customer due diligence obligations, and evolving supervisory expectations — none of which operate independently.

Institutions that perform consistently in this space develop frameworks that reflect how MSBs actually operate, applied through underwriting, monitoring, governance, and oversight that fit the business model rather than fight it. That kind of program requires more than compliance knowledge — it requires sector familiarity, banking-side experience, and a clear view of how examiners actually evaluate.

That's the combination MSB Advisors brings.
